Walking distance to Kapa’a shops, dining, and groceries. The bike/walk trail runs through it, making it easy to get from beach to beach. The amenities and grounds are very well-kept. The rooms are simple and clean, and the staff are wonderful. The resort is well taken care of with recent upgrades to the registration area, carpeting, and sports and recreation areas this year. Even the small beach the resort has is kept in pristine condition. The concierge staff, all locales, are a wealth of information and go out of their way to help you get to the phenomenal sites and experiences on the island. After a long day of kayaking, hiking, and sightseeing, you can relax stress-free at Pono Kai.This is a floating week, you are not locked into a specific week, making it super easy to enjoy the island through all the seasons. More information on our formula...
Hotels usually sleep 2 adults per room, whereas the average timeshare units offer multiple private bedrooms, sleeper sofas and sometimes even bunk beds - adding value not calculated here. Timeshare properties are condo style units that contain all of the comforts of home... and then some!
Hotel total cost includes a 10% hotel tax whereas the average U.S. hotel tax is currently around 13.4%.
Timeshare total cost includes an increase in maintenance dues each year of 3%, as well as an estimated $1,000 in closing and transfer costs. These are estimated and will vary by state, county and resort.
Total savings does not take into consideration the added benefit of a timeshare unit having a spacious living room, washer and dryer, dining room and full kitchen, all of which add value and potential savings when you have the option to do your own laundry and enjoy a home cooked meal instead of dining out.
