Per the owner: We have been coming to Aruba to this resort even before it
became a timeshare, called Americana. We stayed here with the exception
of 1 week that we stayed at Marriott Resort (were very disappointed).
Additionally we traveled to a lot of Caribbean Islands & Mexico before
and also were not impressed. Aruba is the friendliest, cleanest and
safest Island. We have been coming to Barcelo for over 20 years, we
befriended so many interesting, wonderful people. They became part of us,
so we started to come practically at the same time to see people that we
just love. Steve, a Vietnam veteran, could listen to his stories forever
or about the book that he wrote. During wintertime a lot of people stay
there for 2-3 month, so you become part of them. I love the activities
the resort provides and the food! Food is good, really very good;
selection or dietary sense is very good. I even complimented the chief
for the very moderate salt in food. Almost forgot about location,
location, location! It's the best.

More information on our formula...
Hotels usually sleep 2 adults per room, whereas the average timeshare units offer multiple private bedrooms, sleeper sofas and sometimes even bunk beds - adding value not calculated here. Timeshare properties are condo style units that contain all of the comforts of home... and then some!
Hotel total cost includes a 10% hotel tax whereas the average U.S. hotel tax is currently around 13.4%.
Timeshare total cost includes an increase in maintenance dues each year of 3%, as well as an estimated $1,000 in closing and transfer costs. These are estimated and will vary by state, county and resort.
Total savings does not take into consideration the added benefit of a timeshare unit having a spacious living room, washer and dryer, dining room and full kitchen, all of which add value and potential savings when you have the option to do your own laundry and enjoy a home cooked meal instead of dining out.
