Club Lavaud

In 1840, the namesake for Club Lavaud, Captain Charles Lavaud, led a group of emigrants to settle the area, and though the region was under British sovereignty, these hearty French remained to settle Akaroa. The area grew to become one of New Zealand's most important ports.
