Do you love traveling the world? What if I told you that some travelers get rewarded to do it? Formerly called Hyatt Residence Club, Hyatt Vacation Club is known as one of the best vacation clubs in the world. With its home-like atmosphere, luxury amenities, and broad range of resort destinations, the brand has a lot to offer. One of the highlights of Hyatt Vacation Club is its Hyatt timeshare points. These points offer a flexible vacation system that allows owners to travel whenever they want, wherever they want. If you’re looking to learn more about how Hyatt points work, you’ve come to the right place! We’ll cover everything you need to know about Hyatt points and help you answer the question, “Is Hyatt timeshare worth it?”

What Is Hyatt Vacation Club?

Hyatt Vacation Club

Since its founding in 1957, Hyatt has had a stellar history in the hospitality industry. From its humble beginning as a small motor lodge, Hyatt has grown into one of the world’s leading hotel companies. Currently, Hyatt operates over 1,300 hotels and resorts in 76 countries. Hyatt Vacation Club is Hyatt’s timeshare brand. Hyatt Residence Club has a point system that allows owners to travel to any of the resorts in the brand’s portfolio. In contrast to a deeded week ownership, Hyatt timeshare points allow flexibility in when and where you travel. Not planning a trip for a year? Owners can bank their points to save for a bigger vacation next year. On the other hand, owners can also borrow points from next year to take a vacation now.

Hyatt and Welk Resorts

In 2021, Hyatt Vacation Club’s parent company, Marriott Vacations Worldwide, acquired Welk Resorts. As part of this acquisition, Marriott rebranded Welk’s resort portfolio as Hyatt Vacation Club properties. As a result, Hyatt owners have even more options than they did in the past. The addition of these new resorts has definitely made Hyatt timeshares worth it for many travelers.

Are Hyatt Timeshare Points Worth It?

If you’re interested in becoming an owner with Hyatt Vacation Club, it starts with buying points. How many you need depends on multiple factors, like which resorts you will be visiting most often, how much space you need per vacation, or which season you prefer to travel. Owners receive an annual allotment of their Hyatt points, which can be used throughout the year at any of the resorts within Hyatt’s portfolio.

Hyatt Vacation Club Resorts

There are 22 resorts owners can travel to when they own Hyatt timeshare points. There is something to suit every guest’s budget at a Hyatt resort, whether you’re looking for a cozy studio apartment or a luxurious villa with a fully-equipped kitchen, a living room, as well as a private bedroom. Amenities at Hyatt Vacation Club resorts include full-service spas, lagoon pools, and family activities.

So, is vacation ownership worth it? At the end of the day, the decision is up to you! Some things to consider are if the timeshare maintenance fees are feasible for you to pay every year. Hyatt’s fees can be about $1500 a year, and these do slightly increase annually. However, if you were to take a week long vacation using your points, or take several trips throughout the year, you will have made it up for these fees and more.

Furthermore, consider if any of the Hyatt resorts are within reasonable reach of where you live. Will you want to take a several-hour-long plane trip, or are there resorts worth road-tripping to? Luckily, points are flexible, so you can break up your vacations how you choose whether you want a full week vacation or a weekend getaway.

How Do Hyatt Timeshare Points Work?

Vacation ownership can be confusing if you are new to the world of timeshares. When owners purchase points they can use them at their home resort or at other Hyatt Vacation Club resorts. You should choose your home resort wisely, because it’s more important than you might think. In fact, your home resort allows you priority access when booking. The home resort preference period is 12 months prior to check-in and the Club Use Period (CUP) is a six month period before check-in. CUP points are automatically converted into Limited Club Use Period (LCUP) points if you don’t make a reservation during the period. LCUP points are valid for another six months for reservations checked in within 60 days.

This means that if you want to make reservations outside of your home resort you have a shorter reservation window. But if there is availability and you have points then you can trade. So if you want to visit Florida often then you might want to consider Sunset Harbor in Key West, Florida. Or if you want to visit California the most then you might choose Highlands Inn. Then, on the years that you want to stay somewhere new, you can travel to Hyatt Mountain Lodge in Colorado or Wild Oak Ranch in San Antonio. No matter which Hyatt properties you make reservations at you can rest assured that there are luxurious accommodations and fun amenities awaiting you.

How Much are Hyatt Vacation Club Points?

Another factor to take into consideration is Hyatt Vacation Club costs. Point values vary depending on which location you plan to buy at. Not to mention, if you want to travel during platinum season you will need more points than if you want to travel during the off-season.

You can find Hyatt points for sale at a much cheaper price on the resale market. In fact, becoming a Hyatt timeshare owner through the resale market can potentially save you thousands of dollars. If you’re looking to buy Hyatt Vacation Club points, check the resale market first for lower prices at your favorite resorts. While buying Hyatt points resale is cheaper, you’ll still have access to the same fantastic amenities and accommodations as any other owner, thanks to the upkeep the resorts perform using annual maintenance fees. So, you’ll be sure to have a stellar vacation, all while saving money!

World of Hyatt

Another benefit of owning Hyatt points is the access to World of Hyatt. This loyalty program makes Hyatt timeshares worth it to some owners. It’s free to sign up, and members earn rewards as they stay at qualified resorts or hotels. There are four tiers of membership when you begin to participate. Discoverist, Explorist, Globalist, and Lifetime Globalist are each tier of World of Hyatt membership levels that come with extra perks. Explorist

A step above the Discoverist members is Explorist. Members must have stayed 30 or more nights at a qualifying resort or hotel, OR accumulate 50,000 points, OR coordinated at least 10 meetings/events. Explorists earn the Pearl status of M life Rewards, and receive premium internet, bottled water, elite check-ins, and late checkouts.

Globalist

To achieve Globalist status, members must have stayed at least 60 nights at a qualifying resort or hotel, OR accumulate 100,000 points, OR coordinated 20 meetings/events.

Lifetime Globalist

Last but not least, World of Hyatt members can achieve lifetime globalist status, which allows them to receive all the globalist benefits every year without having to requalify. To reach this status, you must accumulate one million base points.
